Happy New Year to you all!
2017 has been a fantastic year for films, so much that I really struggled to put together my top 10 favourite films. I have finally managed to concoct a list in which not everyone will agree with as always but that’s the beauty of sharing a top 10 list.
Before we get there, I do have a top 3 worst films list for 2017. Honestly, it wasn’t something I had to think too hard about and I only chose 3 because for me, it was to the point that I was falling asleep (which I hardly ever do when I watch a film) from the disappointment. Again this list is something not everyone will agree with but I can guarantee that one film will probably make a lot of people rage. In all honestly, I just didn’t enjoy it at all.
In no particular order, my top 3 worst films of 2017 are…
- Transformers: The Last Knight
- Kong: Skull Island
Bring on the rage people, yes I am one of the few who actually hated Dunkirk. I do love Christopher Nolan’s work and yes it had some great cinematic pieces however, the film was dreadful. The only interesting thing about it was Tom Hardy’s character and that’s only because I wanted to know the outcome of his situation. I do however don’t blame Nolan fully for this. I do somewhat think this is another case of The Conjuring 2 where I just didn’t think the story was interesting enough. Whatever, let’s move on to my juicy top 10 best films of 2017.
A word of warning, I’m still in bits over my top 3 as I loved them so much I just keep changing who comes in at number 1. But for now, here’s what I’ve left it as, but just think of the top 3 as all winners.
- Baby Driver
- War for the Planet of the Apes
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi
- Annabelle Creations
- Only The Brave
- Hacksaw Ridge
How did I get to my top 3? Well for me, these films were flawless and I’ve watched them enough times to know they belong up there. Awards season is going to be very interesting this year, but we’ve also got a heck of a year ahead of us.
What have you flung in your top 10? Let me know without burning me at the stake.
